Xander Greenhill

Warehouse Assistant

What does your role entail?
My job is pretty varied, which is a large part of what I like about it… My key responsibility in the warehouse is making sure all the equipment is ready for the road, but that could mean anything from packing flight cases, testing cables and assembling rigging pieces, to hoisting huge bundles of equipment into the vans and trucks. Beyond that, there are occasional deliveries and I’m even training to do maintenance and repair work at the moment, so it feels like my job is always changing and growing.

How long have you been in the industry?
Since I started at Firebird in September 2024.

What do you love about working at Firebird?
Everyone I’ve met has been so supportive and keen to push people to specialise in the areas that interest them. As I’d never worked in events before, I’ve pretty much had to learn everything as I go and the warehouse team have been really supportive.

What characteristic do you most admire in others?
Experience, combined with curiosity and humility. You can learn a lot from someone like that.

What are you passionate about?
Films, photography and music – all the creative pursuits really, as well as learning about the equipment, methodologies and technologies that bring those sorts of projects to life.

What do you do in your spare time?
Honestly – same answer again. I do spend probably too much time sat editing photos and synthesising audio to go into music tracks… I’ve also been playing a lot of Mario Kart recently for some reason!

What are your three favourite things?
My laptop, camera and all the various speakers/headphones I’ve got around the place probably receive the most actual mileage day-to-day, but I actually couldn’t choose my favourite things, they’ve all served me well!

If there was anywhere in the world you could travel to, where would you go?
Anywhere I could see something amazing being made first hand, like in a music, movie or art studio – failing that, perhaps I should just go outside!!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Find just the right approach to a story, piece of music, image, or whatever, to make it really communicate.

Five words to describe what Xander brings to the team…
He is reliable, intelligent, resourceful, friendly and artistic.
