August 2014

31 August 2014

What beautiful British summer weather we’ve been having again this month! We’ve had lots of exciting and high profile events taking place, along with many weddings… we haven’t stopped!

We kick started August with the wedding of our fantastic compere Rob, many of our clients will have met this cheeky chappy at our team building events, or if they’ve booked our singing waiters, therefore it’ll come as no surprise that he proposed to his lovely fiancé with a flash mob at his favourite restaurant! They were married at the Star and Garter in Putney with Firebird in charge of all the production – the venue looked stunning!

August is always a popular month for weddings, we were lucky enough to event manage and produce a high profile England rugby players wedding at The Grove Hotel in Watford. Firebird provided a three piece steel band, caricaturist, photo booth and the ever so poplar Get Funked, along with lighting and production of the whole day! Some of our work even featured in Hello magazine!  This month also saw a wedding with a large lighting install, at The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, including a fairy light drape canopy above the dance floor. Our production crew were also at The Dorchester towards the end of the month for another huge lighting install for a wedding reception. It is amazing to see how lighting can completely transform the feel and look of a room and create a great party atmosphere.

The weather has been perfect for team building activities again this month, we hosted a bespoke outdoor Challenge 100 at Ascot Racecourse this month for a high profile energy company who put on an energetic afternoon for their employees after a morning conference. The bespoke physical zone included an inflatable human table football, space hopper relay and a croquet challenge! Team building activities don’t always have to be for large groups, on a somewhat smaller scale, we took 7 people into London for a Treasure Hunt around the City where they had to follow clues, solve cryptic questions and negotiate with our actors around the trail. This is a great activity for exploring a city or town location.

We were at The Hurlingham Club on the 28th of the month, for The Mo Farah Foundation Charity Gala Dinner, where Firebird provided the staging, audio equipment and lighting. The event saw a huge number of celebrity guests and appearances, including the very lovely Jimmy Carr who took a few minutes to chat to our crew while they arranged his sound equipment. It was a great evening.

We’ve had another really busy month so we’ve picked out a few ‘stand out’ events to share with you... We provided Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer who performed (alongside his old friend Olly Murs) at a Private house in Cheshire for a 10 year Wedding Anniversary which was a great evening.  Some of our other very popular acts, Stavros Flatley, Signature and Stacy Solomon all performed for us at a Community Fun-day in London, we also provided the outdoor stage, lighting and sound!

Firebird had their very own team building day at The Elvetham on the last Friday of the month. It was an afternoon full of fun and laughter, while our teams competed for the fastest time on the rage buggies and highest score on the archery and laser clay! We then went on to take part in gun dog handling before a ferret race! The day was topped off with our ‘Busy with the Fizzy’ champagne tasting and a BBQ! We had a fantastic day and would like to thank The Elvetham for having us!
