This month’s ‘Firebird Focus’ blog features our Events Manager Phoebe who loves all things Christmas and will be sharing her favourite festive activities with you all! And yes, that is her with Santa in the picture below!
“In the run up to Christmas we often get asked for activities that can be run alongside a festive lunch or dinner, something that will cater for smaller groups, or just an alternative for those who don’t favour the traditional office Christmas party. The following activities are a selection of my favourites and are a great way to get together with your team and enjoy a bit of festive fun and frivolity!
Wreath Making
This is a great way to get together with colleagues and make your very own traditionally made Christmas wreath, to take home and adorn your front door for the festive period. Using professional floristry equipment, you will learn the art of wreath making… Starting off by making your moss base, you will then add sumptuous amounts of spruce, holly, seasonal flowers and foliage. Chatting with colleagues whilst listening to Christmas songs (and perhaps enjoying a glass of mulled wine for good measure!) this is a great choice for a more relaxed festive get together. We actually did this as a team last year which was really good fun!
Festive Quest
If your team enjoys a bit of healthy competition our fun, fast-paced ‘Festive Quest’ is for you! Great fun as an after-dinner activity, or even between courses, teams visit different activity stations, undertaking a variety of Christmassy challenges. A couple of my favourites are; ‘Jingle Bells’ - teams co-ordinate themselves to play a Christmas tune on the hand bells and ‘Tree-mendous’ - individuals follow instructions from team mates in order to assemble and decorate a Christmas tree, whilst blindfolded!! These are just a couple of examples and points are awarded to teams depending on their performance on each task and of course - points mean festive prizes!!!
Gingerbread House Making
I just love baking and this activity will certainly appeal to your teams creative side… Time to roll up your sleeves get to grips with the cinnamon and get baking!! Complete with all the necessary equipment, teams battle it out creating the best gingerbread house (or any gingerbread creation they wish!) Think trees, snowmen, royal icing, sugar craft decorations and perhaps even a sprinkle of edible glitter! As a fun finale, guests can display their bakes for judging and then relax, chat and enjoy eating their freshly baked creations.
