Hever Castle – Venue of the Month Blog

28 September 2017

Set in 680 glorious acres in Kent you have the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle.

It was here, when on a hunting trip that Henry VIII fell in love with Anne.

From history, to walks and endless activities, there is plenty that Hever Castle and their grounds can offer you for a day out!

There are 5 ladies that make up the Events Team at Hever Castle, you have Kate (Sales Manager), Sarah (Senior Events and Sales Coordinator), Harriet and Stephanie (Events and Sales Coordinators), and Ria (Food and Beverage Dining Coordinator). We asked the team about their favourite event spaces at the Castle, and this is what they had to say:

For Harriet, it’s the Loggia, which offers the opportunity to watch fireworks displays over the lake. We frequently provide Hever Castle with those spectacular fireworks, creating an unforgettable end to any celebration! Please feel free contact us and we will be delighted to discuss the various packages available with you.

For Stephanie, it’s the Tudor Suite, which is located within The Astor Wing. A series of three panelled interconnecting rooms opening out onto the private lawns, with views across the Castle and moat.

For Ria, it has to be the Appleyard Dining Room. For its cosy warmth and stunning views over the orchard to the Castle, where afternoon tea is offered on select dates throughout the year.

For Kate (deviating away from function space slightly, and focussing more on ‘favourite place’!) it’s the covered terrace of Medley Court. This is Hever Castle’s self-catering property. Sleeping up to eight, it is the best place to sit and take in the wonders of William Waldorf Astor’s fine collection of Italian sculptures. The stunning vista’s he created can really be fully appreciated from this setting, and the resident swans quite often regally parade on the surrounding lawns. Kate loves to show this hidden gem to her clients. There are not many who can resist Hever Castles’ charm once they have viewed Medley Court, which by the way can be booked in conjunction with an event!

For Sarah, it’s the Castle Inner Hall, a welcoming and homely area of the Castle with a stunning fire place. The carved Minstrels Gallery is also the perfect reception space to start your event at Hever.

Finally, for us here at Firebird Events, our favourite function room has got to be the Guthrie Pavillion. A contemporary style garden venue, accommodating up to 200 people. The Guthrie Pavilion has floor to ceiling arched windows and curved ceilings, creating a light and airy atmosphere. It is also boasts the most perfect romantic backdrop of the lake and gardens! We can help you enhance this stunning event space to compliment any vision for your event, please just get in touch and we can talk through all of the different and exciting options available to you!

As you can see, there are many different places to enjoy and explore at the historic Hever Castle. Do book in a show round with their fabulous team who will be delighted to discuss your event.
