January 2015

31 January 2015

After a couple of well-deserved weeks off over Christmas we’re back in the office and looking forward to a very exciting year ahead…

We think we should kick-start this month’s blog entry with our most notable event of the month! 19 staff members from Firebird were up bright and early on the last Friday of the month to hop on a plane to the French capital, where they spent 2 days setting up for one of our regular clients New Year’s Party. We’ve been organising their New Year’s party for the past 5 years. Last year saw us at Hilton Park Lane, London, this year we were at The Intercontinental Paris! Firebird installed full lighting, sound, AV production, live relay and video recording, dance floor, LED poseur tables, LED cube seats, Video LED DJ booth, LED bar, LED candelabra table centres and a variety of games including, batak, giant operation, basketball shootout, casino tables and a photo booth complete with a French themed prop box! – That’s why we needed 4 trucks to transport all of the equipment! We also provided the guests with two very memorable performances, the first Spellbound, the winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2010 and the second, Michael McIntyre who performed a 30 minute stand-up routine. The whole evening was a huge success with very high praise from our client.

Other overseas events that we’ve been involved in include providing the fantastic String Fever, for a Corporate dinner in Dublin. This electronic string quartet is very unique as they are partly classical, partly rock ‘n’ roll – perfect for everybody! We also sent three of our cheeky-chappy singing waiters to a corporate dinner in Guernsey at the end of the month where they serenaded guests after their main meal.

Many of our recommended venues chose to hold their staff Christmas parties in January when they are slightly quieter, we provided our services to Pennyhill Park where the staff dressed up as film characters for their ‘Night with the Stars’ party. We also provided discos and dance floors to Brooklands Hotel, The Berystede and Hever Castle for their staff parties!

Team building events have been very busy this month, we’ve provided laser clay shooting at Pennyhill Park, Culture Sculpture at the-runnymede-on-thames and a filming day up in Leeds where they even had snow – not many teams get to film in the snow! Our wonderful Murder Mystery actors visited Coworth Park in Ascot, towards the end of the month, where we are now a recommended supplier. They entertained a small group of 15 over their evening meal which was great fun. From one extreme to the other, we provided a Virtual Horse Race night at Ascot Racecourse on the 21st of the month for 180 guests! We had 27 teams, all of which were highly enthusiastic – it’s well known at Firebird that the louder you cheer, the more likely it is your horse will win!

X-factor finalist Andrea Faustini made a surprise appearance at a 50th Birthday celebration in Scotland, where he sang a number of songs along with Happy Birthday! The surprise had been arranged by the daughter of the gentleman celebrating his birthday – how lovely!

We’ve exhibited at three lovely wedding fairs this month, we were at Savill Court in Windsor, Pennyhill Park in Bagshot and Northbrook Park in Farnham. At all fairs we showcased our standard discotheque and had Firebird staff on hand to answer questions from prospective brides and grooms. Be sure to come and visit us at our upcoming wedding fairs at Great Fosters – 15th February, The Elvetham - 22nd February and Wentworth Golf Club – 22nd February!
