30 June 2014
Yet another busy month for the Firebird Team with a whopping 174 events... In fact it has seen our biggest month’s turnover ever, so please forgive the extensive blog this month!
The lovely sunny weather, Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and of course the World Cup has meant lots of fun sporting themed events and it seems that everyone wants to make the most of British summertime!
The sunny weather arrived just in time for Royal Ascot week which kept many of our local venues very busy with visitors travelling from far and wide to attend this prestigious event. We were delighted to provide an action-packed fam trip for The Berystede this month. Guests took part in our scavenger hunt within the grounds, followed by a virtual horse racing evening - very in-keeping with Royal Ascot week.
June always welcomes the fantastic annual Summer Ball for Children with Special Needs Foundation, hosted at Wentworth Golf Club. This year the entertainment included the amazing Flying Black Eagles, The Imaginations and function band Pastiche. Alongside this we also provided our stunning black LED dance floor and LED uplighters which make such a stunning feature of all the wonderful paintings in the Ballroom. Earlier in the month the charity also celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a celebratory lunch complete with magician and caricaturist, again at Wentworth Club where they welcomed the Countess of Wessex as a distinguished guest. Children with Special Needs Foundation is Firebird Events chosen charity and we really admire all the hard work that Gordon, Ann and their team put into every event - a very big well done for yet another successful summer.
The other major sporting event of the month being our very own Wimbledon, saw the annual Gatsby Club Ball for one of our large corporate clients. This year’s theme was very in-keeping with the venue and saw a lavish 1920’s Great Gatsby themed event. Amongst the entertainment during the course of the evening was a bespoke 1920’s themed quiz incorporating silent movie clips and 20’s style music which was held over dinner, allowing guests to test their knowledge of the era and be in the running to win a lavish prize– not bad for knowing a bit of trivia!
Our conference team have been visiting various European locations including; Stockholm, Amsterdam and Frankfurt – we are clocking up some air miles this year!! Somewhat closer to home, we have also hosted conferences in Westminster and at The Hilton Reading. The Hilton Reading event was for a regular corporate client who finished off their event with a dinner dance. Guests enjoyed an evening of virtual horseracing, participating in Wii games and rounding off the evening with one of our fabulous discotheques – great fun all round!
June has been extremely popular for corporate dinners and awards nights. This month we have provided our fabulous awards nights for a variety of corporate clients at a range of lovely venues including; Luton Hoo, Old Royal Naval College London, The Grove (twice!) and Shendish Manor.
This month e have provided a variety of team building events including; a London treasure hunt, finishing at the historic Tower of London for prize giving, an action-packed back to school sports day for 140 people at Pennyhill Park, lots of country pursuits, a challenge 100 at London Zoo and a bespoke chocolate based cocktail workshop at Latimer Place!
Wedding season is upon us and we have provided our services to some stunning weddings this month. One of the most notable weddings was at the gorgeous Chiswick House, where we provided the band Jet Set, a string quartet, lighting, black LED starlit floor and a PA system for speeches. We have also been to the extremely stylish Coworth Park providing one of our well renowned wedding discotheques.
Amongst some of the more unusual events this month have been the provision of a pink LED dance floor for a private party for a 5 yr old in London (what a lucky girl!), supplying Ruff Diamond for an performance in Glasgow, followed by workshop about Hip Hop. We have also provided Encore singing waiters to a prestigious racing car event in Le Mans – what a treat for the performers!
This month in the Firebird warehouse we are delighted to welcome a new member to the production team – Darren Michelczyk who we are very pleased to have on board!
Finally, we are very excited to welcome back Nina Ktoris, one of our senior event managers who has been off on maternity leave. She is re-joining the sales team on a part time basis and is already keeping very busy getting back in touch with clients and dealing with a vast array of new enquiries!
