This month we are featuring Joe, our Warehouse Manager, who is known for his can-do attitude and calming presence.
Joe oversees our two warehouses and is responsible for the behind the scenes action that ensures the right equipment goes to the right event! Included within his many responsibilities are; prepping all the equipment that goes on our events, loading and unloading our fleet of vehicles, stock management and maintenance. He also gets to go out on a few events too, but he can mostly be found beavering away, making sure everything in the Firebird warehouse runs smoothly…
Why do you love working in events?
Every single day is filled with variety. You never know what weird and wonderful thing you'll be doing next.
What are you passionate about?
I'm really passionate about trying to make a difference to those most in need. I volunteer at a day centre for the elderly and I absolutely love it! It's given me a whole different perspective on life and shown me what's really important.
What do you think you bring to the team?
I like to think I bring a calming presence into an area of the business that is extremely dynamic and fast paced. I'm lucky to work with such an amazing team and together we always get the job done!
Where is the favourite place you have travelled?
I am so grateful that I have been able to travel to many amazing places around the world but seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland was really something to behold.
How long have you been in the industry?
I've had five fantastic years in the events industry so far, but have close to a decade's experience in stock management and warehousing.
What characteristic do you most admire in others?
Kindness. I think kindness is an underrated quality sometimes. You really get the measure of a person when they do something for someone else, whilst expecting nothing in return.
What is your favourite venue to work at and why?
We often work at venues in the glamorous Kensington and Knightsbridge area of London and I always love working in that part of the world. Arriving before the crack of dawn and having London all to yourself, just as the sun rises is really quite special.
What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?
Currently it's Ottolenghi by Loyle Carner. His music is pure poetry and this track is perfect as winter draws in.
