This month we are featuring the wonderful Mary Hamilton, who has been part of the Firebird Team for over ten years!!
Mary is extremely efficient in her role as Head of Accounts and is well loved by everyone for always paying the bills on time!! Day to day, Mary deals with all things accounts related from invoicing, taking payments, paying suppliers, running the payroll, doing our accounts and generally keeping the Firebird bank balance in check… Far from being a ‘boring accountant’ Mary brings a touch of rock and roll to the office and outside of work she can often be found at a gig enjoying a glass of Pinot Grigio!
How did your career start in events?
Just luck, fate and timing. Considering I was recruited as a “she’ll do”, they now can’t get rid of me!
If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?
I would repeat my 50th Birthday Party, with all my friends and close family with good music (and wine!) It was just the BEST night of fun!!!
What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?
My playlist is varied and big, but probably P!nk “Raise your Glass” or Pitbull “Time of Our Lives”
How would your friends describe you?
Happy, reliable and fun (hopefully!)
Why do you love working in events?
Over the years, I have realised that there is a simple equation to where you work … ‘fun type of business = fun staff’
If there was anywhere in the world you could travel to, where would you go?
To see the Orangutans in Borneo
What has been your favourite Firebird highlight of the year?
Being invited to attend the M&iT awards where we won the Silver Award for ‘Best Event Provider’. It was a great night out for an accountant!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Sleep on it…
Do you have any hidden talents?
I make awesome Potato Dauphinoise!!
