Meet the Team – Nina Ktoris, Marketing and Event Manager

30 April 2018

This month we are featuring Nina Ktoris, who has been at Firebird for over 12 years!!

Having been part of the team such a long time, Nina is well acquainted with all our recommended venues and has a host of events knowledge under her belt. Outside of the Firebird family, Nina is mummy to two children who are almost 2 and 5, so works part-time. She is still very much involved in events, but has recently undertaken a role change and now takes care of all things marketing. With a can-do attitude and plenty of enthusiasm Nina always has what it takes to get the job done!

How did your career start in events?

I did a three month work placement at Firebird as part of my University degree back in 2003 which I really loved (it doesn’t seem like that long ago!) I then went back to University, finished my course and an opportunity at Firebird became available shortly afterwards and I have never looked back!

What are your three most favourite things?

Glitter, chocolate and rosé wine!

Why do you love working in events?

Nothing beats seeing all the planning and hard work pull together on the event day and watching guests enjoy themselves. I love to stand by the doors at weddings and parties and hear all the guest’s reactions when they come into the room, it’s a wonderful feeling!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I am somewhat of a craft geek and love textiles and making things. I am first port of call in the office for anything that needs a creative ‘crafty’ touch!

What is your most favourite event you have worked on?

One of my favourites has to be a fabulous 1920’s party at Grosvenor House, where we themed the room like a vintage cruise liner. The whole event was stunning and was complete with bespoke lampshade table centres, a 1920’s dance troupe accompanied by a 12 piece orchestra and the icing on the cake – a performance by professional dancers Vincent & Flavia, it was amazing!!

What is your most prized possession?

My engagement and wedding ring, although you wouldn’t think it as I (accidently!) dropped my engagement ring off a balcony hours after getting it, but luckily got it back… it’s a long story including a Greek man called Addonis!

Are you a morning or evening person?

I am definitely a ‘night owl’! I am known for staying up into the early hours of the morning… With two small children at home, it’s the time I am most productive!

Next month we will be featuring the one and only Andy Hobbs, our Sales Director where you can gain an insight into his lengthy events career and love of helicopters…
