Meet the Team – Rachael Loosemore, Sales and Event Manager

28 November 2018

This month we are featuring the dynamic Rachael Loosemore, our wonderful Sales and Event Manager and keen traveller…

Rachael has been with us since 2013 and is a crucial member of the sales team. She is super organised and deals with a vast array of event enquiries from team building and family fun days, through to weddings and corporate parties and loves getting out and about managing events too! Since her sabbatical earlier this year, Rachael has got ‘the travel bug’ and can often be found planning her next city break...

How did your career start in events?

After spending 5 years working in a party shop, I quickly decided that events sounded exciting and something I would enjoy! I passed on the opportunity to go to Uni when Firebird offered me a part time role back in 2013 and here I am now!

What would you put on your bucket list?

I want to visit as many countries in the world as possible! I’m currently on 24 countries, which cover 5 continents. I collect fabric flags from every country to attach to my travel rucksack.

What has been your favourite highlight of the year?

My favourite event of 2018 has to be an outdoor festival / concert event for one of our regular clients based around the corner from us in Farnborough. We had samba drummers and dancers, LED drummers, glitter face painters and four amazing bands who kept guests up and dancing all afternoon and evening. The feedback from the client was overwhelming and brought a tear to my eye. (Blog to follow in the new year, so watch this space to find out more…)

How would your friends describe you?

Organised, outgoing and fun

If you didn’t work in events where do you think your career would have led you?

I would love to be a racing car driver! I’ll never let the team forget the time I got the fastest lap on the rage buggies on one of our team building days. I did cause a go karting injury to one of our directors once though, so maybe it isn’t for me!

What’s your favourite tipple?

The best cocktail I’ve ever had was a Cappuccino Martini at our much loved Pennyhill Park Hotel – I was off duty of course! It’s a must try…

What characteristic do you most admire in others?

Honesty! I hate it when people lie… Life is so much easier when people are honest.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can say the longest train station name in Welsh… Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch which means church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio of the red cave. My Welsh Grandad paid me £20 to learn it when I was little!

Well, that’s Rachael in a nutshell! Next month we will be featuring our Warehouse Manager Joe, where you can gain an insight into his love of music and what it takes to keep the Firebird warehouse running!
