November 2014

30 November 2014

December is almost upon us, but before the festivities begin, we have so many events in November to tell you about…

November has hit with a BANG! On the first weekend of the month we provided a couple of fantastic fire jugglers for the Wentworth Golf Club Fireworks display, who wowed guests on arrival - this is an event we are involved in annually and is always a great evening for all the family.

We have some exciting news to share regarding venues this month. We’re now the recommended supplier at Ascot Racecourse for team building activities. We are very pleased to be recommended by the venues in house events team and to get the opportunity to work more regularly at the venue. We have also become preferred supplier at Warren House, a stunning Victorian private venue in Kingston for wedding and party services which is fantastic!

Venues regularly offer ‘Fam trips’ to suppliers and clients to give them a feel for the hotel and what it can offer. On the first Friday of the month Firebird provided a number of services for a ’Fam Trip’ hosted by The Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow. The event was circus themed with giant props, yummy food stalls and a fun packed circus workshop. The guests were greeted by The Top Bananas stilt walking band and a ring master accompanied by his mini-me! During the evening the partition wall was removed to reveal a dance floor and stage where RPJ band performed. Needless to say, we received fantastic feedback from the venue and the guests had a wonderful time!

November has been a popular month for conferences, the beginning of the month saw the production team heading off to Ricoh Arena, Coventry for a full conference and awards set up. The crew were also responsible for the sound for the well-known comedian, Milton Jones. Firebird are regularly involved in the launch of swim wear company, Zoggs new seasons lines, providing full conference set up, including set, AV, lighting, catwalk and technical crew at The Radisson Blu Edwardian Guildford. The last week of the month, Firebird travelled up to The Belfry, Birmingham for a two day conference for a regular client of ours, AXA Wealth. The first day of the conference had a main conference room with show caller and sound engineer, there were also 3 breakout rooms for guest speakers. The second day of the conference was moved into the Bel Air, (the venues on-site night club). The crew transformed the night club overnight for a conference and a buffet lunch, it was a fantastic transformation. Our brand new orchid table centrepieces made their debut at this event too. We now offer an elegant goldfish bowl filled with orchid stems on a mirror base with mirrored tea lights around the edge – they look stunning! These can also be used with our LED bases to incorporate colour and light into an event space.

The first of five charity events that we were involved in this month took place at Plaisterers Hall, London, for the charity 4Children. The evening was held for The Family Hero Awards, the awards recognise extraordinary people who have helped and supported families through difficult times. Firebird provided a full awards package set up including custom gobo’s which projected the charities logo around the room. Hugh Dennis attended a charity event this month for one of our clients, he was also invited to dine at the top table before performing a 30 minute act and hosting the charity auction. Back in June Firebird were the proud entertainment and lighting suppliers of the annual Summer Ball for Children with Special Needs Foundation, this month Firebird not only supplied the technical equipment and entertainment for their suppliers thank you dinner, but one of our directors Andy Hobbs was a guest too. A great night was had by all! The end of the month saw a charity quiz at Chelsea FC where bespoke rounds had been created based around the club and football in general, this event used voting keypads to collate the team’s answers as there were over 600 guests!

It’s been non-stop for team building events this month too, the first team build of the month was our brand new ‘Get Busy with the Fizzy’ champagne tasting at the runnymede-on-thames. Teams went head to head in a tasting challenge to try and guess the type of fizz, country of origin, price range & three tasting note descriptions, its great fun! Many people have only ever dreamt about taking part in The Great British Bake Off, but a team of 50 delegates had the chance to get involved when we took our Bake Off team build to The Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa in Ascot. Body language expert, Richard Newman hosted our Bodytalk Master Class in Kidderminster this month too. The master class shows delegates how to create rapport, look and feel confident, to be more authoritative, charismatic and communicate more successfully.

Our acoustic (non-operatic) singing waiters were at Northbrook Park at the beginning of the month for a wedding, they were booked by the father of the bride as a surprise for the bride and groom – their performance went extremely well, getting the guests to join in with singing at the tables. Both the family were thrilled with the performance and Firebird received glowing feedback. Fireworks aren’t only for the 5th November, this month we provided a 10 minute firework display for a fabulous wedding at Hever Castle - fantastic entertainment that everyone can enjoy!

This year is our 9th year of producing the Archant Hertfordshire Business Awards and Hertfordshire Care Awards. The production looked absolutely stunning and included outdoor lighting, logo projection, room lighting, audio visual equipment, sound production, set and staging! As we approach December Corporate dinners and awards evenings have become more and more frequent.  We provided 3 operatic singing policemen to a corporate dinner at Sketch in Mayfair, London. The singing police stunned the guests as they serenaded them after their main course.  A Corporate event taking place at the London Film Museum this month saw our brand new iPad Magic! It’s exactly what it says on the tin, it’s magic using an iPad! Click Here to watch a snippet.

Christmas party season kick started during the last weekend of the month, with many companies choosing to host their Christmas parties early. The Firebird team are bracing themselves for what is renowned in our office as crazy Christmas!!
