October 2014

31 October 2014

Autumn has arrived, the clocks have gone back and the leaves are falling, this can mean only one thing… festive season is just around the corner!

October has been a really busy month for awards nights and corporate dinners, the most notable was held at the Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton, where Keith Chegwin hosted the 25th year corporate celebration of a company in the construction industry, we also had performances from Stavros Flatley, Michael Buble tribute Lewis Dixon and the band MadHen who provided a fantastic evening of dancing!

The first weekend of the month we produced and event managed the annual charity gala dinner, at Wentworth Golf Club for the Thames Valley branch of the charity, GroceryAid. We had performances from the band China Grove, Signature from Britain’s Got Talent and Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer, from the X Factor. Firebird also provided an LED dance floor, table centres and all sound and lighting.

Firebird were proud suppliers to the runnymede-on-thames this month, as we produced our first conference there from a venue recommendation. It was a two day conference with a gala dinner and awards on the first night.  We were also fortunate to work at the iconic Olympic Park on the first Friday of the month, guests were welcomed with a high energy Haka performance as a conference opener, with a virtual horse race night in the evening.

Amongst some of our larger events this month we have provided bespoke services for a repeat corporate client including the provision of a two day conference using their warehouse in Surrey as the venue. We also arranged private caterers for the event, sourced accommodation for 160 delegates and arranged a private offsite dinner for their international delegates at Ascot Racecourse’s new restaurant ‘On5’. The restaurant opened earlier this year and is on the 5th floor offering stunning views of the racecourse. The guests were treated to a three course meal courtesy of Michelin star chef, Tom Kerridge.  In-between the courses the guests placed bets on our virtual horse race night, this activity was very in-keeping with the venue and worked really well for this client as there was a large percentage of international guests who could all get involved with the activity.

Quizzes are a very popular evening activity, so much so that one of our corporate clients required a completely bespoke quiz because they had completed all of our existing versions before! Amongst other team building events this month we provided a client visiting Frimley Hall Hotel, with two of our bartenders who taught them how to make some delicious cocktails, this activity works well before or after dinner and you get to drink what you make! Another fun activity we provided this month was a treasure hunt around Bath for 45 delegates, it’s a great way to get out of the conference room and enjoy the sites of a city whilst solving puzzles, working out clues and negotiating with actors hidden on route!

The wedding team have been out and about this month at wedding fayres meeting happy couples, we have exhibited at a selection of our recommended venues including; Pennyhill Park Hotel, Frensham Pond Hotel, Wentworth Golf Club, The Elvetham Hotel and Barnett Hill Conference Centre.  It is a great opportunity for us to show off our services and for potential clients to discuss their plans for their big day with us!

Finally, due to our ever growing amount of equipment and conference sets etc we are very excited to be the proud owners of a new warehouse - we now own Unit 3 and 5 Hercules Way, Farnborough! It will be great to have a bit more space!!
