Ed O’Boyle

Head of Scenic

What does your role entail?
I’m responsible for building, prepping and installing conference sets, backdrops and furniture for events. I’m in charge of overseeing the overall ‘look’ of events, ensuring that clients are happy with the final outcome.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Firebird?
My favourite thing about working at Firebird is the team. It’s rare to have as many ‘work friends’ that become just ‘friends’!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I really enjoy gardening, I love the mental health benefits of being outdoors and working with the plants.

What’s your favourite venue?
It’s a bit controversial, as technically it’s ‘just a field’, but I would say Chalke Valley History Festival, as it’s by far my favourite event of the year and super interesting to be involved in. (Especially when the sun is shining!)

Where’s the favourite place you’ve travelled to?
My favourite place that I’ve travelled is Central America. I spent 3 months travelling from Panama to Los Angeles and I loved every minute of it!

Random fact:
I met the Queen three times!

If you were an animal what would you be?
A beaver, because I don’t give a ‘dam’ what I build, as long as it’s with wood! 😉

Five words to describe what Ed brings to the team…
Creativity, skill, an eye for detail, enthusiasm and reliability.
