Take one…

Direct, act and edit a movie, using iPad Air, in this fun and creative filmmaking event.

Teams are given a short brief on the subject of their films, but you choose the medium – short film, documentary, music video, comedy sketch, promotional film or advertisement. Then it’s time to get creative as teams plan their storyboard and assign roles to their team, deciding who will be the Director and who will be in charge of filming, sound, costumes, location, acting and editing.

Armed with tripods, lighting and microphone booms, and with access to our extensive collection of fancy dress costumes and props, teams then get into the ‘zone’ to film their movies.

Once the films are ‘in the can’ teams edit their movies using pre-installed apps, where they can zoom, cut, and add simple film effects. They can also choose from a bank of sound effects and music to create their soundtrack.

As a fun finale, teams’ movies are shown on our large screen, with the winning team receiving their prizes in a closing awards ceremony. We can also award spot prizes for categories such as ‘best costume’, ‘best editing’ and ‘best actors’.

Movie Making Team Building Activity FAQs

What is the Movie Making Team Building Activity?

Our Movie Making Team Building Activity challenges corporate teams to plan, film, and edit their own movie using iPad Air devices. Teams will receive a short brief before choosing how to bring their ideas to life on screen.

The activity combines elements of corporate video production with an entertaining team challenge, creating an experience that encourages collaboration whilst giving everyone plenty of opportunities to get involved and have fun.

What type of movie can your team make?

The creative direction is largely in your hands. Your team can produce a short film, documentary, music video, comedy sketch, promotional film, or advertisement.

This freedom makes the experience particularly engaging, as every group can interpret the brief differently. Whether your colleagues favour comedy, drama, or something completely unexpected, imagination is encouraged.

How many people can take part?

The activity is suitable for groups of approximately 10 to 120 guests. This flexibility makes it an excellent choice for smaller departments as well as larger company events. Participants work together in teams, helping to ensure everyone has a meaningful role throughout the experience.

How long does the activity last?

You should allow approximately two to three hours for the complete experience. This includes planning, filming, editing, and the all-important movie premiere.

The activity fits comfortably into many corporate event schedules and can be an exciting feature within wider team building days out.

Does anyone need filmmaking experience?

No previous filmmaking, acting, or editing experience is required. The activity is designed to be accessible, entertaining, and rewarding for participants with various abilities.

You do not need to be a corporate video production expert to create something memorable. The emphasis is on teamwork, imagination, and enjoying the filmmaking process together.

What roles will your team need to fill?

Your team will plan a storyboard before deciding who takes responsibility for different elements of the production. Roles can include director, camera operator, sound technician, costume coordinator, actor, and editor.

This variety gives colleagues the chance to contribute according to their strengths or try something completely new.

What filmmaking equipment is provided?

We provide the necessary equipment to help your team transform its ideas into a finished movie. This includes iPad Air devices alongside tripods, lighting equipment, and microphone booms. These filmmaking tools elevate your corporate video production while remaining straightforward enough to use during a fun team building event.

Are costumes and props available?

Your team will also have access to our extensive collection of fancy dress costumes and props, helping characters and stories come to life.

How will your team edit its movie?

Once filming is complete, your team will edit its footage using pre-installed apps. Participants can cut and zoom footage and introduce simple film effects to create their finished production.

Your team can also select effects and music for the soundtrack, adding another creative dimension to the filmmaking process.

Is the activity held indoors or outdoors?

The Movie Making Team Building Activity we host at Firebird Events can take place indoors or outdoors, giving you greater flexibility when planning your event.

The most appropriate set-up can depend on your venue, available space, and event arrangements. This versatility makes movie making suitable for a wide variety of corporate occasions.

Can the activity take place internationally?

Our Movie Making Team Building Activity is available for UK-based and international destinations, making it an exciting option for businesses organising events in a variety of locations.

It can provide a shared creative experience for colleagues and is particularly useful when you want your team building days out to feel different from standard corporate activities.

What happens after the movies have been completed?

The finale gives everyone their moment on the big screen. Your teams’ completed movies are shown for the whole group to enjoy, turning the end of the activity into a fun premiere.

The winning team will receive prizes during a closing awards ceremony, bringing an entertaining competitive element to the experience.

Are there awards for individual achievements?

Alongside the overall winner, we can award spot prizes in categories such as best costume, best editing, and best actors.

These additional awards help recognise different contributions and encourage participants to throw themselves into every aspect of their movie.

Is movie making suitable for colleagues who do not want to act?

There are plenty of important behind-the-scenes roles, so nobody has to perform in front of the camera if they don’t want to.

Participants who would rather avoid acting can contribute through directing, filming, sound, costumes, planning, or editing. This makes the activity inclusive and helps different personalities become involved comfortably.

Why choose movie making for your next team building event?

Our Movie Making Team Building Activity offers much more than simply watching your colleagues perform. Your team will work together from the first storyboard ideas to the final edit, creating something original that everyone can enjoy at the premiere.
