adrenaline, skill and precision...

Polo is one of the fastest ball games that exists and boasts to be a glamorous sport of sheer adrenaline, skill and precision. Normally played by the rich and Royalty we give you this incredible opportunity to play the game yourself, without the bottomless bank account!

With our amazing fully trained professional polo ponies and HPA (Hurlingham Polo Association) instructors we give you the opportunity to take part in a polo experience that for some will create a new polo addiction! With absolutely zero riding experience whatsoever, we will take you from a non rider to scoring goals in the matter of minutes. 95% of our groups have never even ridden a donkey on a beach, but under our professional instruction you will learn very quickly the joystick controls of a very highly trained polo pony.

Our ponies are carefully selected for each persons ability. We provide absolutely everything for you including British standard & approved riding helmets, gloves & polo sticks. You just need to pack a sense of adventure and smile! Experiences take place in our two full sized polo arenas based at Winchester and Tidworth in Hampshire with refreshments in our clubhouses.

What you will experience:

RIDING FOR POLO – See how easy it is to control your new pony friend with the joystick handle. Forwards, left, right, back to stop. It’s super simple!

RULES & TACTICS – So every game has them. Learn the rules of the game for safety and next time you are at the polo you will know what’s happening!

SHORT STICKS – Practice your shots on the ground without a polo pony. You will learn the main four shots of the game. Nearside forehand & backhand. Offside forehand & backhand.

Polo Team Building Activity FAQs

What is the Polo Team Building Activity?

Our Polo Team Building Activity gives your group the exciting opportunity to experience one of the fastest and most glamorous ball games in the world. Combining adrenaline, skill, precision, and plenty of friendly competition, this memorable experience introduces your team to polo with the guidance of professional instructors and highly trained polo ponies.

It is a fantastic choice for team building days that offer something completely different from the usual office-based activities. You do not need a royal budget or years of riding experience either; everything you need to get involved is provided.

Do you need horse riding experience to take part?

Around 95% of groups taking part have little or no previous riding experience. Our HPA-qualified instructors will show you how to control your polo pony using simple techniques for moving forwards, turning left and right, and stopping.

Each pony is carefully selected according to the rider’s ability, helping beginners feel comfortable as they discover this exhilarating sport.

How many people can take part?

The Polo Team Building Activity is suitable for groups of approximately 5 to 40 guests. This makes it an excellent option for smaller teams as well as larger company groups searching for unusual team building days out.

The experience encourages everyone to participate, learn new skills, and support their colleagues throughout the session.

How long does the polo experience last?

The activity can last between two and six hours, depending on your chosen experience and group requirements. This flexibility means polo can become the main attraction during your team building days or form part of a wider programme of activities.

Where does the Polo Team Building Activity take place?

Our polo experiences take place in full-sized polo arenas at Winchester and Tidworth in Hampshire. Clubhouse facilities are also available, giving your team somewhere to enjoy refreshments as part of the experience.

Both locations provide an authentic setting that makes the occasion feel considerably more special than an everyday corporate event.

What happens when your team arrives?

Your experience begins with an introduction to polo in the clubhouse. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided on arrival before your team meets the instructors and gets ready for the activities ahead.

This welcoming start gives everyone an opportunity to settle in before discovering the skills, rules, and excitement of polo.

What will your team learn during the experience?

Your team will be introduced to several important elements of polo, beginning with riding and learning how to control the ponies. You will also discover the basic rules and tactics that help make polo safe, competitive, and exciting.

The varied programme makes this one of those team building days out where participants are constantly learning, laughing, and taking on fresh challenges together.

Will your team learn how to use a polo stick?

Before attempting shots from a pony, your team will practise on the ground using short sticks. You will be introduced to the four main shots: the nearside forehand, nearside backhand, offside forehand, and offside backhand.

Once you have built some confidence, you can progress to the stick-and-ball session and attempt shots while riding your polo pony.

Will you get to play a polo match?

One of the highlights is the opportunity to put your newly acquired skills into action during company chukkas. This is where the competitive spirit can really emerge as colleagues attempt to score goals and claim victory.

For businesses looking for team building days out that offer genuine excitement and friendly rivalry, the chukkas provide a brilliant finale to the sporting side of the experience.

What is the Tack Off challenge?

Tack Off introduces your group to the equipment required to prepare a polo pony for the game. This can include saddles, bridles, boots, bandages, breastplates, martingales, and other specialist equipment.

Your challenge is to remember what you have learnt and work out how everything fits together. It adds another entertaining teamwork element to your day.

Is all the polo equipment provided?

We provide the specialist equipment required for your experience, including British-standard approved riding helmets, gloves, and polo sticks. Professional polo ponies and their necessary equipment are also included.

With the practical essentials taken care of, your team simply needs to arrive ready for an adventure.

Who runs the polo sessions?

Your group will be supported by HPA-qualified polo instructors and professional polo grooms. Their expertise helps complete beginners learn the fundamentals while creating an enjoyable and engaging environment.

Having experienced professionals on hand is particularly reassuring when choosing team building days out for groups containing people with very different levels of confidence around horses.

Is the activity suitable for nervous beginners?

The experience has been designed so that people with no previous riding experience can participate. Your pony will be selected with your ability in mind, while instructors will guide you through the fundamentals before progressing to more involved activities.

The gradual introduction helps turn initial nerves into a rewarding sense of achievement.

Is the Polo Team Building Activity held outdoors?

Polo is an outdoor experience, making it ideal for businesses wanting to swap desks, meeting rooms, and screens for fresh air and a completely new challenge.

The outdoor setting is one of the reasons polo can be such a refreshing choice for team building days, particularly when your goal is to give colleagues a genuine break from their everyday routine.

Why is polo good for corporate team building?

Polo combines communication, concentration, learning, confidence, and friendly competition in an environment that is likely to be completely new to most participants. That shared learning experience can help colleagues encourage one another and create plenty of memorable talking points.

Unlike more familiar corporate activities, polo also delivers a genuine sense of occasion. It makes team building days out feel like a reward as well as an opportunity to bring colleagues together.
