SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, FROM ENGINEERING TO DESIGN, PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND CREATIVE INPUT.
The Tall Ship Build is a collaborative (not competitive) exercise, which requires cross-functional teamwork. It offers something for everyone, from engineering to design, project management and creative input. Participants face the challenge of constructing a tall ship using a range of raw materials, but success will depend upon their ability to collaborate and entrust one another with different elements of the build.
This activity is themed to make the ship a metaphor for the company itself, enabling an understanding of delegates’ perception of, and level of engagement in, the company vision, values, or current position. The group must build a tall ship with a height of up to 4 metres and minimum length of 6 metres. In just two and a half hours this is quite the challenge!!
Working in teams, they are each assigned with a different aspect of the build (rigging, hull, deck, crew etc). They are asked to consider what their ship means: where do they see themselves now, in the future, and what journey are they on?
This activity encourages expression of ambition and acknowledgement of challenges in a ‘safe’ setting.
